Harold Holmes

Harold Holmes, 74, of Du Quoin, passed away at 1:15 P.M., Wednesday, September 22, 2004 at the home of his son at Benton.
Harold was a retired welder at Fidelity # 11 Coal Mine. He was a member and deacon at the Sunfield Baptist Church. He was a member of UMWofA Dist. 12, Local 5134.
He was born May 31, 1930 in Franklin County, IL the son of Henry and Verdie (Reeves) Holmes.
He married Peggy Spangler on July 23, 1949 at Piggot, Ark. And she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, two sons- Dean Holmes and wife Erin Kay of Du Quoin and Dan Holmes and wife Dodie of Benton, sister- Helen Beckham of Du Quoin, two brothers- Claude Holmes of Zeigler and Vernon Dale Holmes of Du Quoin, mother-in-law- Fern Spangler of Du Quoin, sister & brother in law- Wanda & Chuck Huite of Du Quoin, grandchildren- Jim Holmes and Diana Ryan, Thomas and Crystal Marlow, John and Mary Stanhouse, Joey Holmes, John and Misty Kearbey, Lance and Ivonne Kearbey, Jarrod Kearbey, Clint and Ashley Kearbey, Amanda Holmes, Julie Holmes and Jason Holmes, great grandchildren- Shia Holmes, Kaylee and Jordan Stanhouse, Erika and Megan Kearbey, Coleton Kearbey and Kaya and Avery Kearbey, several beloved Nieces and Nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers- William Neville, Charles Tennison and Herbert Holmes.
Funeral services were at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, September 25, 2004 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Everett Freeman officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M. Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment was in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
